Scot Seats win Military Seat Contract

Scot Seats has won the contract to supply to Marine Specialised Technology (MST), designers and manufacturers of specialist RIBs for a contract for the Royal Netherlands Navy.

The RIBS built are built to a high specification as they are used in active service on anti-pirate activities in various parts of the world.  Scot Seats were chosen by the Liverpool based firm after thorough testing and analysis of their products.  5 different types of seats were tested for over 200 hours by the Royal Netherlands Navy prior to Scot Seats being chosen due to their performance and high standard specification.

The seats chosen were the S2 jockey seats which are fitted with MitigatorTM, Military Specification Shock Mitigation foam.  For this particular contract the seats have been mounted on a tracked mounting system with storage in mounting PODs and nets on the rear of the seats.

The S2 Jockey seats have a 150mm progressively damped shock mitigation system which has a 3 stage adjustable damper depending on the weight of the occupant. With useful top grab handles they are ideal for even the roughest of sea states.  Manufactured using high spec marine grade material and the upholstery is toughtec which is anti-slip, hardwearing as well as UV and water resistant.  The seats have a number of optional extras depending on the application.

Scot Seats Managing Director, Jonathan Young commented, “We have recently received some significant orders in the military and government sectors from the Swedish coastguard, to the Portuguese Navy and another large order for a yet undisclosed European government.  The S2 jockey seat has stood up to rigorous testing and are now a popular choice with military and professional operators.”

Both Scot Seats and MST will be exhibiting at DSEI and there will be a FRISC boat on the MST stand as well as one being demonstrated by the Dutch Navy from their OPV on the water.
