Scot Seats supply to expanding fleet at Coastal Connection

Coastal Connection is based in Oban on the West Coast of Scotland. Their main activity is tourism, taking visitors out to the islands to see the scenery and the abundance of wildlife. When taking passengers out on coastal trips it is very important to them that their passengers are always comfortable when onboard the boats.

The increase in commercial requirements for vessels has meant that the commercial branch of the company called Offshore Connections have invested in a new vessel called Schiehallion to complement their existing 3 vessels. Having supplied all Offshore Connections previous boats and also supplied to Redbay boats for over 8 years Scot Seats was their automatic choice of seating.  The new boat is a Redbay Stormforce 12m with a fully enclosed cabin, allowing for a safe and dry environment for crew.   All the seats for the 12 crew + 3 helmsmen are supplied by Scot Seats and are the lightweight San Carlos range for both helm and passenger positions. Schiehallion is built to Category 2 MCA coding and has a cruising speed of 28 knots.

The seats supplied have been designed to be easily removable, should space be required for transporting goods and equipment, alternatively a few chairs can be removed to make way for a table.

Offshore Connection owner said, “Scot Seats are ergonomic and also hard wearing with thousands of passengers sitting on our seats every year. The new Aluminium seat frames are very strong and also very light weight which is a massive advantage on a fast craft.”
