Scot Seat install their own in-house Seat Test Centre

Scot Seat Group, incorporating Scot Seat Direct Ltd and Scot Seat KPM Marine have been designing and manufacturing seats at their purpose built factory in Scotland since 2000. Their seats are used throughout the world on every kind of vehicle and vessel, from vans, buses, trains, fire engines and military vehicles to offshore raiding crafts, rescue boats, police / military patrol boats, passenger ferries as well as race boats - positioning Scot Seat as the UK’s market leader.

All seats are manufactured and tested to the relevant regulations pertaining to the industry and fitment in which they will be used. Many of the seats are custom designed for client’s particular requirements and to assist their in-house product development team, Scot Seat have installed their own seat test centre. The rig built for the centre does pull tests to M1, M2 and M3 specifications.  This will allow them to carry out tests on new seat designs prior to sending them to outside test centres for final approval. Having this facility means that development time can be reduced and also they have the ability to carry out random tests on seats direct from their production line, to ensure quality is maintained.

As well as the new pull test rig Scot Seat KPM Marine have also installed a seat drop test rig which allows them to test their range of shock mitigation seats to UK MOD Protocol 1 & 2 standard. This allows Scot Seat to continue to develop products to keeping them at the forefront of protecting people while at sea in the most extreme conditions.

Scot Seats have a wide range of in-house skills ranging from metal fabrication, joinery, upholstery, spray painting/coating to composite manufacture to facilitate both small and large orders to customers’ specific requirements.  The company produce in excess of 12,000 seats per year, as well as numerous customised specialist seating and mounting systems.
